On behalf of the Board of Directors, staff, and residents of Greenwoods Eldercare Society, I want to express our deep gratitude for the overwhelming response to our recent annual appeal. Your generosity has been profoundly touching.

We are especially grateful to Country Grocer and to an anonymous donor who together offered to match the first $10,000 in donations received before December 31. Thanks to the remarkable outpouring of support from this community, that matching challenge was fully met – doubling the impact of those early gifts and inspiring others to join in supporting our mission.

We are also deeply grateful to our Residents and Family Council for their meaningful support of the campaign and their advocacy for Greenwoods.

As we shared in our appeal, the demands on eldercare continue to grow while public resources struggle to keep pace. As a locally-governed, not for profit provider of care, Greenwoods depends on community support to supplement basic operational funding and provide the quality of life our residents deserve. Your response demonstrates the deep commitment Salt Spring Islanders have to ensuring our elders are cared for with dignity and compassion.

This generosity enables us to continue providing the programs and services that make Greenwoods more than just a care facility – it is truly home to our residents. Your support helps bridge critical gaps and strengthens our ability to meet the evolving needs of those we serve.

While the December 31 deadline for tax receipts has passed, we remain grateful for ongoing support in whatever form it takes. The needs of our island’s elders are continuous, and we are fortunate to have such a committed community standing with us.

With sincere appreciation,

Eleanor Dawson
Chair, Greenwoods Eldercare Society

Where do Greenwoods donations go?

Greenwoods Eldercare is a community-based, non-profit society that owns and manages the Greenwoods Long-Term Care and Braehaven Assisted Living facilities, as well as providing community services such as Meals-on-Wheels, Respite Care, and an Adult Day Program. We depend on donations to supplement our basic operational funding as an Island Health affiliate.

Community donations are used in a variety of ways that add to the quality of life for Greenwoods and Braehaven residents. This may include priorities such as improvement of facilities; upgrades to equipment and furnishings; enhancements to resident comforts and environment; and professional development for our dedicated staff. Your dollars are always applied to the area of greatest need.
